FAQ

What is your approach to training?

Positive reinforcement. Our tools support learning, they don't force it. That's why we sell no aversive tools: no shock, prong or choke collars.

Which tool should I use to practise recall?

The Biothane recall long line: 38.5 ft, with no handle so it doesn't snag on the ground. Always attach it to a harness, never to the collar, and reward every return, even a slow one.

What is the puppy umbilical cord for?

This 3 ft cord clips to the collar and keeps your puppy close to you at home, so you're not chasing them around. It helps build good habits from the very first weeks, before bad ones set in.

What is the 12-inch short handle for?

It's an ultra-light handle with a stainless steel snap for close control. It's perfect for recall, obedience, agility, off-leash transitions or city walks.

Is gear enough to train my dog?

No. A good tool makes learning easier and safer, but real progress comes from practice, consistency and rewards. The Tanzo Academy offers practical lessons, and we can point you to a positive reinforcement dog trainer.

Which harness is best for loose-leash walking practice?

The Tanzo Y-harness. It leaves the shoulders free and has two attachment points: one on the back for everyday walks, and one in front to support, not replace, loose-leash training.

My dog backs out of their collar: what can I do?

A martingale collar is made for these dogs. It tightens slightly to keep the collar from slipping over the head.

Why doesn't the recall long line have a handle?

So it doesn't catch on the ground, branches or roots when your dog moves away. It trails freely behind them during recall practice.

When should I use the umbilical cord?

At home, during the first weeks with a puppy, when you want to keep them close. Always stay with your puppy while they're attached.

Are Academy lessons included with the tools?

Yes, a how-to lesson comes with your accessories. The 5-in-1 leash lesson is online, and more are on the way. Lessons are in French for now.
