However, it’s helpful to know that it features a painted finish. Over time, everyday friction (from ID tags, leash snaps, hard surfaces, or sand) can cause normal cosmetic wear or minor chipping.

⚠️ Important: The TPU layer is not chew-proof. Just like traditional nylon or leather leashes and long lines, it can easily be damaged if your pup chews on it.

Because of this, never allow your dog to chew on their lead, and never leave them tethered unsupervised. If a dog happens to run off while dragging a long line, they need to be able to get loose in an emergency.

What Is a Martingale Dog Collar?

A martingale dog collar is a buckle-free collar that slips over your dog’s head. It is made of two sections connected by metal sliders.

The larger section sits around your dog’s neck, while the smaller loop tightens slightly when tension is applied to the leash. When properly fitted, a martingale collar can help prevent a dog from backing out of their collar.

Martingale collars are especially popular for leash walking, for dogs whose heads are narrower than their necks, and for dogs that tend to slip out of traditional collars.

How to Choose the Right Collar Width

For medium and large sizes, two widths are available. The narrower width is generally a good choice for younger dogs and short-haired dogs. The wider option is ideal for mature dogs, long-haired dogs, or anyone who wants the pattern to stand out more.

Check our size chart and carefully measure your dog’s neck before ordering. A martingale collar should always be properly fitted so it stays secure without putting unnecessary pressure on the neck.

Pattern placement may vary slightly from the photos because each piece is cut individually. That means every martingale dog collar handmade in Canada is unique.

Care instructions: Machine wash in a laundry bag to help protect the hardware, then lay flat to dry.

Processing time: Our usual processing time is 24 to 48 hours. All items shown as available in our shop are ready to be prepared.

This collar is designed for walks and training. It should not be used for permanent tethering or to leave a dog tied up unattended.
